The MIT Licence is one of the simplest and most-used open-source code licences. It permits use, modification, redistribution, and sublicensing — including in proprietary contexts — provided that the original copyright notice and the licence text are preserved with the source code.
The MIT Licence is included in the CLIPol catalogue for cross-domain comparison work — situations where an open-data project includes both data (under a CC or ODbL licence) and code (under an MIT or similar licence) and licence-stack questions arise.
