CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 combines the NonCommercial and ShareAlike restrictions. Reusers may modify and redistribute the work for non-commercial purposes, must credit the original author, and must release derivatives under the same licence.

The NC-SA combination is one of the most-restrictive Creative Commons licences. It is also one of the more frequently chosen by independent academic publishers and small-archive cultural-heritage projects that want to prevent both commercial appropriation and proprietary forking.
