GeoGratis Licence Agreement

Pre-2013 Canadian federal geospatial-data licence. Superseded by OGL-Canada.

The GeoGratis Licence was Natural Resources Canada's pre-2013 licence for federal geospatial data published through the GeoGratis portal. It was a permissive but verbose licence with attribution requirements that did not cleanly map onto the international Creative Commons / Open Data Commons family. It was effectively superseded by the Open Government Licence — Canada in 2013.

Datasets originally published under GeoGratis remain available under the original licence terms unless re-released; this creates a small legacy-licence consideration for projects integrating older Canadian federal geospatial data with newer OGL-Canada releases.
